David C. Walker

David C. Walker (1785–1830), born in Wilmington, North Carolina, lived in Boston, Massachusetts, when he wrote for and helped distribute and promote Freedom’s Journal, the first African American owned and operated newspaper in the United States. An abolitionist, he is best known for his militant voice in David Walkers’ Appeal in Four Articles: Together with a Preamble, to the Coloured Citizens of the World, but in Particular and Very Expressly, to Those of the United States of America, a pamphlet published in 1829.
